You must have often heard that your chakra is blocked, and it needs to be opened, but you don’t understand exactly how to do that. A blocked chakra can affect your physical as well as emotional health. Each chakra is an energy-dense center located between the base of the spine to the crown of the head. Let’s discuss how to unblock all five chakras.
Muladhara Chakra (Root Chakra):This chakra works on building a strong foundation. The best asanas that you can do to open this chakra and build a stable foundation are balancing poses like the Tree Pose, Natrajasana, Veerbhadrasana 3, and Garudasana. Balancing poses strengthen your lungs and core. Additionally, staying in a challenging balancing pose for a longer duration builds patience, perseverance and will power.
Svadhishthana Chakra (Sacral Chakra):Svadhishthana chakra enhances your creativity and sexuality. It is present slightly below the navel. To open Svadhishthana chakra, practice asanas that strengthen your pelvic floor muscles like Setu Bandhasana and Baddha Konasana. Also, hip-opening poses like the Pigeon Pose and Malasana allow more prana to flow around your Svadhishthana chakra and help balance this chakra.
Manipura Chakra (Solar Plexus Chakra):Manipura chakra is psychologically about building confidence in ourselves and physiologically about strengthening the digestive processes and core. To balance the Manipura chakra, practice poses that build core strength like Navasana, Utthishtha Chaturanga Dandasana, Uttanpadasana, and Adho Mukha Svanasana.
Anahata Chakra (Heart Chakra):Anahata chakra is psychologically about love, empathy, and compassion and physiologically about circulatory and respiratory issues. To balance Anahata chakra, practice heart-opening poses to allow prana to flow easily around your heart chakra. Practice Ustrasana, Dhanurasana, Bhujangasana, Ardha Chakrasana, and Bitilasana to work on this chakra.
Vishuddhi Chakra (Throat Chakra):Vishuddhi chakra is psychologically about our ability to communicate and express ourselves to others and physiologically about the functioning of the thyroid gland, which plays a significant role in metabolism and growth of the body. The poses for balancing the throat chakra are Matsyasasana, Greeva Sanchalan, Ardha Chakrasana, Halasana, and Sarvangasana.
